Last week the Prophet correctly predicted that Melbourne Victory wouldn’t be able to continue their impressive goal scoring. His prediction was Melbourne Victory to score under 2.5 goals ($1.50) which got up since they only managed to score 1. He also correctly predicted that the Melbourne City V Brisbane Roar (1-1) match would end as a draw ($3.50) and total match goals to be under 3.5 ($1.40).
Here are his Hyundai A-League Tips for Matchday 10:
Sydney FC V Melbourne City:
Just over a week ago, these two teams competed in a tight encounter for the FFA Cup. Tim Cahill’s goal proved enough for Melbourne City to claim a 1-0 victory and become title winners. Sydney FC would have spent countless hours reflecting upon the loss and will be hungry to get a taste of revenge on Friday night. Sydney FC are the only undefeated team left in the league this season and will be looking to continue the trend. The Sydney FC defence has been superb throughout the a-league season only conceding 3 goals in 9 matches. Their attack has also managed to score 20 goals in the space of 9 games, compared to Melbourne City’s 15. Sydney FC have been excellent at keeping clean sheets this season however, they have struggled to do so against Melbourne City.
Wellington Pheonix V Central Coast Mariners:
Wellington Phoenix have scored a dismal six goals all season, making them the worst side in the league for goals scored. They sit at the bottom of the Hyundai A-League table however, will go into this clash as favourites ($1.60). Central Coast were annihilated by Western Sydney last week 4-1. Throughout the match they only managed 8 goal attempts, 2 of these being on target. Roy O’Donovan has had a remarkable 14 shots at goal in five away games this season, the third most in the league. It is only a matter of time till he starts slotting them in the top right corner. Central Coast are the classier side on paper, don’t be shocked if they bounce back from last weeks loss. Match result to end in a draw or Central Coast Mariners win ($2.35) is too good to resist.
Western Sydney Wanderers V Melbourne Victory:
Western Sydney are coming off a convincing 4-1 win against Central Coast last week. They will take great momentum into their clash against Victory on Saturday night. Last week the Prophet did warn all punters to steer clear of Melbourne Victory, stating that their impressive scoring record couldn’t be maintained. Once again it will be challenging to pick a winner in this match. Don’t rule out the draw here. There has never been a drawn game between these two teams when Western Sydney has hosted. Both side are in some good form and this will no doubt be reflected in the final result. Expect goals
Perth Glory V Newcastle Jets:
One week Perth Glory lose to a struggling mariners side, the next they manage a 1-1 draw with a fully fit Melbourne Victory side. It is worth noting that Perth Glory are undefeated in their last 10 games at home, 7 wins and 3 draws. They have also managed to average an impressive 3 goals per game during their last 10 home games. Newcastle have struggled all season only managing the one victory. Perth will be too strong for Newcastle and will put themselves back on the winners list this week.
Brisbane Roar V Adelaide United:
Brisbane have drawn their last 4 matches and will be desperate for a win against Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday. Both teams have struggled to score goals this season, both averaging one goal per game. The likes of Tommy Oar, Thomas Broich and Matt Mckay must lift on Sunday for Brisbane to walk away with the three points. John Aloisi’s men will be hungry for a win and their wait will end on Sunday afternoon.
